What do I receive when I register?

Upon registration, you will receive an email with your own serial number and the name it is assigned to (the first and last name used doing purchase). It's very important you keep this information in case you have to format your computer and have to reinstall the software.

Registered users can use the version of Pool Station they've registered for as long as they wish. It will not expire once registered. In addition, you also receive free updates for a year after purchase - like the original version, these updates within a year will not expire either.

You also receive email updates every time a major release is available (if you enable email alerts when you order).

How long does my serial last?

The serial number you receive when you register will last for that version of the software program indefinitely. If you keep the program installed (or even back up the installation file) you can be confident the serial number will always work.

As mentioned above, it will also work on updated versions of the program for a year.

You should keep in mind, a single version of a software program will probably not last many years. Operating systems, internet websites, and remote servers all change over time and the program may need to be updated to work with these changes.

Can I pay without a credit card?

The most popular method of payment is a credit card, but it is not the only option. You can usually pay by PayPal, check, money order, or an online check (done through PayPal). You should see the registration link from the program you wish to order for all the details.

In addition, I have arranged other payment methods in the past or even worked out special deals for individuals who can show they have to other form of payment or are too young / disabled to have disposable income. If you're attempting to register a game or program that helps you buy things, I'm probably going to be a little skeptical of lack of funds or a need to have the product.

Can I use my serial on another computer?

I do allow users to use multiple computers, if they are the primary user on both computers. You cannot give your serial numbers to friends or pass it around to people who did not purchase the program, however.

There is a limit on the number of times a serial can be activated on different computers. This is random, but usually varies between 2-5. If you need to add it to other computers and the program tells you it's been activated too many times, you'll have to email a request to have it extended. IP addresses using the serial will probably be checked to make sure they are in the same geographical region.

I forgot my serial. Can I get it back?

Orders made in 2005 can be instantly retreived from our order history page.

Orders made prior to 2005 must first be upgraded to the new format, using the serial upgrade request form.

How do I install upgrades?

This is the standard procedure for installing an updated version of Pool Station:

  1. Go to Control Panel -> Add / Remove Programs and Remove Pool Station
  2. Reboot your computer
  3. Download the new Pool Station from www.stationsoftware.com.
  4. Install the new version. It should detect your registration.
  5. If it says it has expired and need to be registered, select Have Serial Number and enter the serial number and name you were given when you registered.

I formatted my computer. Can I get it back?

First get your serial number and download the latest version from the website.

When you run the program, it will probably say you are a trial user. So it doesn't expire in a week, select the menu item "Have Serial Number" and enter your serial number and name. It's very important you enter both exact - capitalization counts. If the name is not correct, the program will still say the serial number is wrong, because the name and serial do not go together.

Why does it say Serial Not Correct?

There are two likely explanations.

First, you may be using a serial number not compatible with the version of the program you are using. Be sure you have the latest version of the program (downloaded from the website). If your serial number is still not working and you believe you purchased your serial number prior to December, 2004, you are using an old serial number and must have it updated. Please fill out a serial update request.

The second (and most likely) reason is that it just isn't being entered correctly. The serial number can be very difficult to type in by hand so you should never try to enter it by typing. You should also make sure the copy you have is correct. The email you received when you registered will have your name and serial number. If you no longer have this email, refer to the instructions on how to get your serial number if you've lost it.

When you have this email, you need to copy the name and paste it into the textbox in the application. To do this, simply highlight the name in the email with your mouse (drag the mouse over the name). Then right-click the mouse and a menu will come up.  Select Copy. Next, go to the Software program and click the box you need to enter the name. Right Click the mouse again and select Paste. The name will appear in the box. Do the same for the serial number and you should be all set.
